Going to Happy Hour is a common enough activity for most working professionals in the Twin Cities. But on Friday, August 22, 2008 there was a Happy Hour event that stood apart from the rest. This was the Africans In Minnesota Happy Hour event that took place at Drink in Downtown Minneapolis. Africans In Minnesota is the brainchild of Wangechi R., Abdi. M and moi, who saw the need for professional Africans that live and work in the Twin Cities to get together to connect with each other in a professional and social capacity.

The turnout at Drink was great and the atmosphere was highly charged as smiles, handshakes and business cards were heartily exchanged as the attendee’s mingled and shared with each other. There are a lot of Africans that live and work in the Twin Cities and AIM has created a way for Africans to connect and build bridges for a stronger community. AIM plans to get Africans together at least once a month and we encourage Africans in the Twin Cities to come and create beneficial and meaningful connections with each other.
